"Why is my computer so slow?"
It didn't used to take three minutes to open a spreadsheet. You've restarted it. You've waited. It's still slow — and everyone's advice is "probably time for a new one."
That window is Claude Desktop — on your computer
The picture above isn't a support chat with me. It's Claude Desktop — a full AI assistant — running on your own computer. Anyone can download Claude; what makes it useful here is what I connect to it: a proper diagnostic built for exactly these questions.
You ask in plain English. Claude runs the Hazzard health check, reads the disk logs and the startup list, and tells you what it found — no ticket, no hold music, no jargon. That's the product: your own AI, with real tools behind it, and me behind those. Here's the full picture.
It's usually one of a handful of things
- A hard drive that's nearly full — or quietly failing. The second one matters: a dying disk is slow first, then gone, and it takes your files with it.
- Too much starting up with the machine. Years of installed programs all elbowing in at boot.
- Not enough memory for what you run now. The machine was fine in 2019; your browser tabs weren't.
- Something misbehaving in the background — a stuck update, a bloated sync tool, occasionally something worse.
Guessing is how people end up buying a new computer they didn't need — or worse, keeping a failing disk they very much needed to replace. The difference between a $60 fix, a $150 part, and a new machine is knowing which one you're looking at.
A verdict whenever you ask — and hands when it needs them
With Claude on your machine, "why is this slow?" gets a real answer the moment you ask — read from the machine itself and put in sentences: what's wrong, what fixing it costs, and whether this machine is worth it. If the honest answer is "it's old, buy new," it says that too. And when the fix needs hands — a part, a rebuild — Claude offers to send me what it found, so the phone call starts halfway to fixed. Not set up yet? I can run the same diagnostic remotely as a one-off.
Fix it now
Tell me what it's doing and I'll take a proper look — verdict first, then the fix.
Ask me to lookNever wonder again
With your own business AI set up, that check is built in — ask your computer why it's slow and it actually answers. And I get the report.
